From Burlesque (1927) to Titanic (1953)
After several nights of dances, finally things began to turn around! She was picked to play the role of a cabaret dancer in the Broadway play The Noose in 1926. She finally became a star when her leading role in Burlesque in 1927, launched her offers! And soon she flew off with countless roles in, Union Pacific and Golden Boy (both 1939), Meet John Doe and The Lady Eve (both 1941), The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946), Clash by Night (1952), and Executive Suite(1954).
By 1953 she eventually would star in the only film of her career, that won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay/Script. That film was the biggest film in terms of Box Office success. That film was Jean Negulesco’s Titanic (1953). In 1957, she moved from Film to Television. Starring in The Barbara Stanwyck Show, which aired from 1961-1962.
