She was married twice, both ended in divorce, by actor Frank Fay and then to actor Robert Taylor. unable to have children Fay and Stanwyck adopted a son, Dion Anthony “Tony” Fay, in 1932. After the failure of her second marriage, Barbara continued acting, until a scandal had broke out.

During the filming of Titanic (1953) she fell in love with one of the cast members, Robert Wagner. Their 4 year affair (well it wasn’t really a affair, since she wasn’t married) ended after stating that Wagner was simply too young for her, and the two parted ways. They stayed friends for many years, until her death in 1990. In which she wore a necklace he had given to her.
